Ring & Du Celebrates International Women’s Day With Women In Design

2020-03-06T10:55:33-06:00

In cooperation with Women In Design (WID), the women of Ring & DuChateau gathered for a photo to celebrate International Women’s Day, March 8, 2020. The photo was posted by WID on social media as part of a collection of women in the design workplace, which of course includes our team in the MEP building systems design industry.

“When I go to WID meetings, I see a lot of architects and contractors but I don’t often see many MEP or lighting designers. This is a great opportunity to recognize the many women in these fields,” said Ring & DuChateau Associate/Lighting Group Manager Holly Blomquist, who is also a WID member.

This year WID also requested that photos submitted include the number of women firms have added over the past year. In 2019, Ring & DuChateau added six women to the team.

R&D Lighting Designer Shares Skills With Students

2019-11-21T17:28:03-06:00

Ring & Du Lighting Designer Teresa Haas is also a lighting design instructor, serving as an adjunct faculty member at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD). She’s held the position in the Department of Interior Architecture and Design since 2018. The course is offered to juniors and seniors to give them an idea what light can do to enhance (or detract from) design in a space.

Although the position was initially a bit out of her comfort zone, Haas now feels gratified working with her students.

“It’s really fun to show students another side of design,” she said. “Some of them have even expressed interest in becoming lighting designers.”
